To improve the performance of your minecraft server, you can do the following:
Server Lag
- Install performance mods/plugins
While mods and plugins can sometimes cause performance issues, certain ones are designed specifically to improve stability and efficiency.
- Reduce the server view distance
Increasing the view distance might seem beneficial, but it significantly raises the processing load on your server, leading to lag. A lower view distance reduces resource usage and improves performance. A view distance of 10 or less is generally the optimal setting for balancing performance and gameplay quality.
Network Lag
- Disconnect any VPNs
VPNs will increase the latency you feel in connecting to your server
- Stop any downloads
Background downloads will use your available bandwidth. You should pause these downloads whilst playing.
